Welcome to Kahal Beis Tefilla

Under the leadership of Rabbi Dovid Steinhauer שליט"א

Who we are

Ramat Eshkol has become the first choice for many families who are looking to call Yerushalayim their home – whether it is for a few years or for the forseeable future. Yet many of these families are a great distance from their parents, siblings and close friends.
For a location to become home, needs more than a comfortable apartment;
it requires an environment where one feels accepted and has friends who care.

Kahal Beis Tefilla is first and foremost a community. It is the place to form friendships and feel welcome. The kehilla's activities include programs for men and women, for boys and girls.

As a community, Kahal Beis Tefilla's membership comprises older couples who have retired to Ramat Eshkol, families choosing to bring up their children in Yerushalayim, Ir Hakodesh, and young newlyweds beginning their journey together in Eretz Yisrael.

The unifying feature that unites everyone is the common direction we all share – to grow greater in Torah and Avodas Hashem, to grow together.

Rav Dovid Steinhauer was born and raised in South Africa under the tutelage of Rav Aharon Pfeuffer zt"l. At a young age he came to Eretz Yisrael to learn in Yeshivas Kol Torah, under the leadership of Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt"l. Rav Steinhauer subsequently learned in the Mir Yeshiva under Rav Yitzchak Ezrachi shlita and Rav Asher Arielli shlita. Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel zt"l, appointed Rav Steinhauer, at the age of twenty five, as a Rosh Chabura in the Mir.
Rav Steinhauer serves today as a maggid shiur in Beis Midrash L'Torah, Rosh Chabura in the Jerusalem Kollel, and Rosh Kollel of Kollel Hora'ah Ramat Eshkol and Kollel Shas, located in the shul.
Rav Dovid Steinhauer was zoche to be a talmid of Rav Moshe Shapira zt"l and Rav Shlomo Wolbe zt"l for many years and gives nightly shiurim in the shul based on their teachings. Rav Steinhauer's shiurim online are followed by hundreds of talmidim around the world, every week.
Rav Steinhauer also is part of the beis hora'ah of Shearis Yisrael under Rav Dovid Morgenstern shlita, and is available to answer questions on halacha throughout the day. Rav Steinhauer is always accessible to guide and advise members of the kehilla.

Torah

At the heart of our community lies a deep commitment to Torah learning. On a typical day, the beis medrash is vibrant from 6:45 AM until 11:30 PM, hosting two early-morning kollelim before Shacharis, two advanced full-day kollelim, afternoon learning programs, three night kollelim, and two special sedarim every Erev Shabbos — in addition to numerous daily shiurim.
Whether our members are learning full time, working professionals, or retirees, everyone is actively engaged in Torah.
Our community also offers a variety of shiurim for women, girls' Tehillim groups, and popular youth initiatives such as Avos Ubanim and Masmidim programs for boys.

Community

Very few shuls in Yerushalayim serve as true community centers — most simply offer minyanim.
At Kahal Beis Tefilla, our calendar is filled with weekly kiddushim, festive events for Chanukah, Purim, Lag BaOmer, Simchas Beis HaSho’eva on Sukkos, Chol HaMoed Pesach gatherings, Neilas HaChag on Yom Tov, and communal siyumim throughout the year.

These are designed as family-friendly events, with special attention given to engaging children and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Our shul is not just a place for strangers to form a minyan — it's a place to form connections. The warmth and camaraderie are palpable the moment you walk through the door.

Chesed

Making the move to Yerushalayim is a beautiful and idealistic decision — but it isn’t always easy. The familiar support systems many rely on in the U.S. aren’t always available here. That’s where community becomes essential.
The strength of Kahal Beis Tefilla lies in its dedication to supporting one another — whether it's help with making simchos, babysitting in a pinch, accompanying someone in the hospital, or networking to find the right doctor, specialist, or a little protektzia when needed.
Our active tzedakah fund and gemach have enabled us to assist countless members during times of need — quietly, respectfully, and effectively.
